Market St Helier

St Helier Market

The market in town, AKA Central Market, is not just a market to buy fresh local produce. It’s also well worth visiting for a wide variety of places to stop for a coffee and some great eating options. In 2024, restaurants in the market started opening on selected evenings.

Here are our top 5 ‘foodie’ reasons to visit the Market.

CASA PACO

Owner Francisco- Paco- is from Valencia. So the paella is top-notch, and other Spanish dishes such as Roquetas de pollo- chicken croquettes- and bocadillo de calamares- fried calamari rolls are always good. They also have a food truck on the harbour near the old La Folie Inn.

COCO RICO

This charming French café serves authentic Breton crêpes, galettes, quiches, croque monsieur, healthy salads, and other delicacies at the heart of Jersey’s historic Central Market. Pop by for delicious Brittany classics, warm hospitality, and a taste of France.

JUST WILLIAM

Our first call for fruit and veg in the market. Bill, AKA @thegrumpygreengrocer, and his staff are helpful and knowledgeable, and the product is high quality. Of course, local produce features extensively, including Jersey Royals, strawberries in summer and broccoli. However, for adventurous cooks, there is always something interesting from further afield. Bhindi, Baby Aubergines, Alphonse Mangoes and Turban ‘Turks’ Squash are some of the produce available in season.

TAVOLA

Tavola brings a fresh, modern take on Italian-inspired dining to Jersey’s Central Market. Offering creative breakfast, brunch, and lunch dishes, this stylish café-restaurant blends bold flavours with a relaxed, contemporary vibe. On Fridays and Saturdays, Tavola transforms into an inviting dinner spot from 5pm.

VIENNA BAKERY

Serving artisan bread and pastries since 1961 in Jersey. The traditional Jersey Cabbage Loaf is a local favourite. They have over 20 varieties of French Stick, and the doughnuts are the best on the island.
